Highlights

Wiener Linien Infocenter U2xU5

Wiener Linien (EN: Viennese Lines) is the company running most of the public transit network in the city of Vienna, Austria. It is part of the city corporation Wiener Stadtwerke.

U2xU5 is the expansion project for the Vienna U-Bahn that is currently under construction. It provides for eleven new stations, 9 km of track and the creation of a new U-Bahn line U5. The project is to be implemented in two stages by 2035 at the latest.

The Infocenter U2xU5 is located in the U3 station Volkstheater, which will become a U2xU5 station in the future. It is an interactive exhibition, where you can touch and try it out.

The Globe Museum of the Austrian National Library

The Globe Museum of the Austrian National Library is the only one of its kind in the world. It is the only institution where globes and globe-related instruments are acquired, studied, and presented to the general public.

Nowhere else do you have the opportunity to see terrestrial and celestial globes, lunar and planetary globes, planetaria, telluria and lunaria in their original condition, and to study the development of globe manufacture, as well as changes in cartographic and cosmographic knowledge. It is the fact that this collection is so focused yet diverse that is responsible for its appeal, its cultural-historical importance and its international scientific reputation. The museum, which is now 60 years old, is constantly being expanded: It currently houses over 820 objects, thereof 250 are shown at the permanent exhibition.

Federal Office of Metrology and Surveying

The Federal Office of Metrology and Surveying of Austria (Bundesamt für Eich- und Vermessungswesen, BEV) is the body responsible for official surveying and geo-information as well as metrology and verification in Austria. It is part of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Economy (Bundesministerium für Arbeit und Wirtschaft). The headquarters of the BEV is in Vienna, its 57 regional offices are spread all over the nine Austrian federal states.

Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum

The Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum, one of the most romantic museums of modern art in Europe, is situated 20 kilometers south of Bratislava, the capital of the Slovak Republic. It was founded by Gerard Meulensteen of Eindhoven, a Dutch collector and art patron, and Vincent Polakovic, a Slovak gallerist. Since 2000 when the museum was opened, dozens of exhibitions of the most prestigious figures of the Slovak, European and global art scene have been organized here.

The Danubian's unique location on the borders of Slovakia, Hungary and Austria, and its harmonious combination of museum architecture and the surrounding Danube River landscape offer visitors unique views of the artwork as well as the flora and fauna which change with the seasons.
